Meet Erika Whitmore and Moapa Valley REACH
Taking care of a child with special needs can be challenging and, at times, isolating. Social worker Erika Whitmore works with Moapa Valley REACH to build a caring community that helps ensure parents have the resources and support they need.
Update from 2023:
Erika is still going strong with Moapa Valley REACH, a community support organization for parents of children with special needs. She says exciting things are afoot for REACH, including an activity center for people of all ages who have special needs. Five acres of land were donated for what will become the Aspire Center. Teens, adults, and all members of the community will have the opportunity to engage in vocational activities with a center that features farm animals, a commercial kitchen, and arts and crafts, just to name a few. Erika is involved in fundraising and applying for grants now, and looks forward to introducing the Aspire Center at a local town hall. She is thankful for the support and love that she and REACH receive as part of the Moapa Valley community.
