If you have your own router and would like to use it with MVT’s internet service, you can. There are some precautions you should know about if you choose to use your own router:
- If MVT needs to come onsite to fix issues related to your router, a service fee will apply.
- MVT may not be able to help you connect your devices to your router at the time of installation.
- MVT cannot keep your router updated with the latest features and security enhancements.
- MVT cannot troubleshoot your internet connection remotely.
The benefits of using a MVT router include:
- Remote troubleshooting.
- If you have problems, support is available at no extra fee.
- The router is kept up-to-date with the latest features and securities.
- No service fees for onsite tech visits.
A static IP address gives your internet connection a fixed, unchanging address.
This can be important if you need:
- Secure remote access – If you want to log in to your office computers from home or on the road, you’ll likely use a VPN (Virtual Private Network), which usually requires a static IP.
- Security or camera systems – Many surveillance and monitoring systems need a static IP so you can reliably access them from anywhere.
- Consistent connections – Hosting a server, running certain business applications, or managing smart devices often works better with a fixed IP address.
Using a free email address (like Gmail, Yahoo, or Hotmail) for your business can look unprofessional and may even raise concerns with customers. Some people are also uncomfortable with the way big providers, like Google, scan and use email data.

ExperienceIQ is a set of content controls and Wi-Fi management tools that comes free with our router. It allows users to manage screen time, filter content, and monitor online activity for different devices and users on their business network, all through the Command IQ mobile app.
